Before the co-main events at UFC 304, a crucial lightweight bout is on the card featuring Bobby Green and Paddy Pimblett at Co-op Live in Manchester on Sunday. Green enters the match with a record of 32-15-1, 1NC, while Pimblett holds a record of 21-3-0. Here’s our prediction for this mouth-watering matchup. 

Bobby Green arrived in the UFC over a decade ago in 2013 after posting a record of 4-1 with Strikeforce. He carried a four-match winning streak into the franchise and kicked off his career with another four wins in a row between 2013 and 2014. 

However, King Green then suffered three defeats on the bounce before he drew against Lando Vannata in 2017 and finally returned to winning ways with a decision win over Erik Koch. 

Another two defeats followed until he knocked out Al Iaquinta in 2021 but he was no match for the formidable Islam Makhachev and Drew Dober, both of whom knocked him out in his next two visits to the Octagon. 

Green is now 3-1 in his last four outings, beating Tony Ferguson, Grant Dawson, and most recently Jim Miller, while his only defeat in that stretch came against Jalin Turner. 

Meanwhile, Paddy Pimblett came to the UFC in 2021 from Cage Warriors, where he held the featherweight title and tried his hand at the lightweight crown. Rest assured, the scouser will have massive support behind him in this bout. 

The Brit started his UFC career with three stoppage victories over Luigi Vendramini, Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt and followed up with a win by decision against Jared Gordon at the end of 2022. 

His last fight saw him top Tony Ferguson by unanimous decision last year. Pimbletts major strength lies in his ground game but that seldomly prevents him from going toe-to-toe in striking exchanges. He is eight years Green’s junior and has a 5cm reach advantage on this opponent.
