Week three in the EPCR Challenge Cup will see Black Lion play host to Bayonne at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium on Saturday. The Lions are fourth in Pool 3 while L'Aviron are bottom of the standings. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

After the first two rounds in the Challenge Cup, Pool 3 in the competition is undoubtedly the most closely contested with all six teams carrying a record of one win and one loss into week three. 

Black Lion kicked off their campaign with a hard-fought 22-19 win over Vannes but proved no match for Scarlets last month when they were beaten 36-18 on the road. 

The hosts are the favourites in this one and have a very strong home record of eight wins in their last 10 games across all competitions, including victories in each of their last three. 

Meanwhile, Bayonne are set to resume the continental competition following a defeat to Montpellier in the Top 14 last week, which left them in fifth place in the domestic tournament. 

The Sky Blue and Whites edged Scarlets to a 17-16 victory in their opening match of the Challenge Cup but were thumped on the road by Edinburgh in their last match 52-12. 

The loss to Montpellier marked Bayonne’s seventh away defeat in 10 across all competitions. They have only won three away games in their last 20 - all of which came in the Top 14.
