Seventh seed Ons Jabeur will play unseeded Bernarda Pera in the fourth round at the French Open. Pera has been inconsistent this season. Before arriving in Paris she had won the same number of matches as she had lost. Her three wins at Roland Garros to advance to the fourth round for the first time have taken her win tally to 15. Eight of those victories have come on clay. She has lost one set so far at Roland Garros. Pera defeated Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets in her last match. That win moved her up 10 places to number 26th in the live ranking which is a new career high. Pera and Jabeur have met each other twice before and the American won their last encounter in Guangzhou in 2019. With a win here, Pera will set up a clash against Beatriz Haddad Maia or Sara Sorribes Tormo next.

Ons Jabeur defeated Pera the first time they met in the ITF circuit back in 2016. Seven years have passed since that match for the outcome to hold any meaningful significance. Jabeur however has evolved into an all-round player and will be confident of reclaiming her advantage in this fixture. The Tunisian has moved up one place to sixth in the live ranking following her 2-1 win over the qualifier Olga Danilovic. She had to come from down to win, and that’s her only dropped set so far in the tournament. Jabeur has also never progressed past the fourth round at the French Open, having been eliminated twice at this round.
