Bernarda Pera vs Joanne Zuger Prediction & Betting Tips - Hamburg, Germany, Qualifying

Bernarda Pera looks to continue her winning streak. The American faces Joanne Zuger in the second round in Hamburg. Last week saw her win the title in Budapest after having to qualify for the event. Seven wins (all in straight sets) won her that tournament and saw her rise from 130th to 81st in the rankings. The first round of this tournament saw her again win without dropping a set. That victory was over Elena-Gabriela Ruse, who was the defending champion. Pera won that for the loss of just four games and none in the first set. The draw has opened up for her here with the winner of this match facing either unseeded Katerina Siniakova.

Joanne Zuger had to win two qualifying matches to reach the main draw.  Before this tournament, she'd lost five of her last six matches. Zuger didn't have much luck in her home tournament in Lausanne last week, drawing eventual runner-up Olga Danilovic in the first qualifying round. There were problems for the Swiss player in her first match and she needed three sets (middle set lost) to get past Jessica Maleckova. Zuger then beat Anastasia Gasanov (seeded second in the qualifiers) to reach the main draw of a WTA Tour event for the first time in her career.. That set up a match against recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Jule Niemeier and she won that in three sets. Zuger began this week ranked 165th in the world but is up four places in the live rankings. Zuger has had some success on the ITF circuit, getting to the final of a hard court event in the Dominican Republic in March. She'd have expected to win the title though but lost to the then world number 768 Andrea Remi. Back Pera to get another win and to do so without losing a set.
