Bernabe Zapata Miralles vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Italian Open
by Devesh Jaganath | in Tennis Predictions
The Rome Masters will continue this week as Bernabe Zapata Miralles prepares to take on Daniil Medvedev in a third-round encounter on Monday afternoon. Miralles has had a solid season to date and has worked his way from 74th in the world ranking at the start of the year to 38th coming into this tournament. The Spaniard struggled on the hard surface early in the year, but since stepping onto his favoured clay court, he has improved his record steadily to 14-12 overall and 14-7 on this surface. Miralles put on a good showing in Madrid last month, beating Daniel Evans and Roman Safiulin en route to the round of 16 before coming up short against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Here in Rome, Miralles took on Jason Kubler in the previous round and overcame the Australian fairly comfortably (6-4, 6-1). However, drawn against an in-form Medvedev is a different type of challenge, and the Spaniard will need to pull off one of his best performances of the year to stand a chance of progressing.
Meanwhile, Medvedev has been excellent for the most part this year and comes into this tournament having already played in five tournament finals, winning four. While he has enjoyed success already this year, none of the four titles he’s won have been on clay. Nevertheless, the Russian holds an excellent record of 33-5 overall and will be hoping to continue improving his clay court record of 5-2 by going deep in this tournament. Medvedev reached the quarter-final stage in Monte Carlo and the round of 16 at the Madrid Masters, where he was unexpectedly beaten by Aslan Karatsev in straight sets. However, Medvedev looked good in his first match here in Rome, overcoming Emil Ruusuvuori for the 11th time in his career in the previous round, and will be hoping to build on that performance with another solid result in this one.
