Benjamin Bonzi vs Matteo Martineau Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Challenger Rennes

Eighth seed Benjamin Bonzi and qualifier Matteo Martineau will meet on Saturday at the Open de Rennes semifinals. Bonzi is now only two wins away from reclaiming the title he won here two seasons ago. He has been in spectacular form here and has won all his three matches without losing a set. To advance to this round, the Frenchman defeated top seed and compatriot Richard Gasquet by the loss of six games. He won the second set of that match 6-0. Bonzi’s run in Rennes has boosted his record for the season as he arrived here having lost more than he had won. He has now won 19 matches in 2023, the same as he has lost. Seven of his victories have come in 11 outings on indoor hard court. Despite his struggles, Bonzi has managed two runner-up finishes this season at tour level. He is back in the ATP top 100 thanks to his success here and is ranked 96th in the live ranking. Bonzi has won all three meetings with Martineau with one being on indoor hard court.

Matteo Martineau has won five matches on the trot. He is making his Rennes debut and started his tournament in the qualifying rounds. The Frenchman has played fellow countrymen in his last two rounds and will hope to leave a third in his wake on Saturday. His last win however came up rather fortuitously as Lucas Pouille retired in the first set with the scores tied at 2-2. Martineau has been in good form this year winning 40 of 67 matches with 10 coming on indoor hard courts. He has however lost seven matches on the surface. His success in Rennes has catapulted him a massive 43 places in the live ranking to a new career high placing. He is now ranked 286th and can make another massive leap to 222nd if he wins on Saturday. The winner here will battle either second-seed Gregoire Barrere or unseeded Maxime Cressy in the final.
