The two highest remaining seeds in the Dallas Open meet in the semi-finals. Second seed Tommy Paul takes on third seeded Ben Shelton. The winner will be facing either fourth seed Adrian Mannarino or unseeded Marcos Giron.who beat top seed Frances Tiafoe in the last eight. Paul was 15th in the rankings when this indoor hard court tournament began. He's up to 14th in the live rankings but isn't able to rise any further even if going on to win the Dallas Open. The American is in his first semi-final of this year and is now 24th in the Live ATP Race. He beat the eighth seed Dominic Koepfer in straight sets in his quarter final. He's yet to drop a set in this tournament having earlier beaten Taro Daniel. Beating Shelton will take him into his first ATP Tour final since a grass court title decider last June. It'd be only his third on a hard court and his only win was three years ago.

Ben Shelton had a tougher quarter final and had to go to a final set to get past seventh seed Jordan Thompson after losing the first set. He remains 16th in the rankings but winning this match will see him go above Tommy Paul into 14th place and that would be a new career high for the 21-year-old. Shelton is in his second semi-final of the year and 19th in the ATP Live Race. His other was in Auckland last month where he lost to Taro Daniel. Last year saw him win the Japan Open on this surface and that's his only ATP Tour final. He leads Paul 2-1 in previous meetings, losing the first one in last year's Australian Open quarter final. He's won the two that have followed, both on hard courts and one in the US Open. We go for Shelton to get the win in this semi-final.
