19th seed Ben Shelton has again come up the goods in a major hard court tournament. He faces the 26th seeded Sebastian Korda for a place in the last four of the Shanghai Masters. Shelton was ranked 20th at the start of this tournament and is up to a new career high of 19th in the Live ATP Race. A win over Korda can take him up to 16th which would be 144 places higher than he was at this time last October. His best form has been shown in Grand Slams played on hard courts. A quarter final was reached in Australia and then the last four in New York. It's not been an easy route to the last eighth in Shanghai for the 20-year-old. His last two matches have both gone to a final set. Round three saw him come from behind to beat Roman Safiullin and it was the same in his last match when knocking out sixth seeded Jannik Sinner.

Sebastian Korda is up to 23rd in the live rankings and that is two places above his career best. A win over his fellow American will see him continue the good form that saw him reach the final in Astana. Before that he also got to the last four in Winston Salem and Zhuhai. He's yet to drop a set in Shanghai and in round three beat second seed Daniil Medvedev. Another seed was beaten in the last 16 as he defeated 20th seed Francisco Cerundolo in two tight sets. Another close match looks likely here and we go for over 22.5 games to be played.
