Novak Djokovic bids to reach his tenth US Open final. The second seed faces the unseeded Ben Shelton in the semi-finals. Djokovic has won this Grand Slam on three occasions, the last being in 2018. The Serb has won eight Grand Slam titles since he last lifted the trophy in New York. If he can win the US Open this year, he'd have won three of the four Grand Slams and it'll be the fourth time he's achieved that. First of all though, the soon to be world number one has to get past Ben Shelton who was only four years old when Djokovic reached his first Grand Slam quarter final in 2007. The second seed came close to losing against Laslo Djere in the third round and had to come from behind after losing the first two sets. He hasn't lost a set since then and had a comfortable quarter final win over the ninth seed Taylor Fritz, losing just nine games.

Now he has another American to defeat if he wants to reach the final. The tennis career of Ben Shelton this year has been dominated by two tournaments. He reached the last eight of the Australian Open at the start of 2023 (also played on a hard court) but hasn't done a great deal since until this US Open. He's been in good form again and has reached his first Grand Slam semi-final. The 20-year-old is up to 19th in the live rankings which is 28 places higher than he was at the start of this tournament. A win here will take him to 15th but that looks beyond this talented American. We go for Djokovic to win in straight sets.
