Ben Shelton is now two wins away from equaling his best-ever finish in Melbourne. The world number 20 produced a quarter-final finish here on his debut two seasons ago.

On his return last year, he was eliminated in this very round. Shelton is coming off a four-set battle with Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. He was on course for a second successive 3-0 victory when a determined Busta won the third set via a tiebreaker.

Lorenzo Musetti has won both ties when paired up against Shelton. He won their first battle on grass at Queen’s Club in 2023 and then doubled his advantage in this fixture in Miami last year.
