Belinda Bencic vs Marketa Vondrousova Prediction & Betting Tips - Women's Olympic Tournament

Belinda Bencic attempts to step out of the shadows of Roger Federer and Martina Hingis and win an Olympic gold medal. The Swiss player takes on Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic in the women's singles final. It's been another surprising women's tournament with Bencic seeded ninth and her opponent not seeded at all. Bencic is the world number 12, 30 places higher than Vondrousova. This is her third final of the year but the preceding two were both lost. If winnng this title, it'll be her first since 2019. It's been a difficult path to the final. Bencic has beaten Jessica Pegula, Misaki Doi and then French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova and the player she beat in that Roland Garros final, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, both in three sets. The semi-final saw Bencic defeat Elena Rybakina but it took her nearly three hours to do so. She's also in the women's doubles final so it's been a tough schedule for her.

Marketa Vondrousova hasn't won a title since 2017, though in 2019 she made it to the final at Roland Garros. Getting to this final is a major achievement for the Czech as that French Open is the only time she's got past the fourth round of a Grand Slam. This isn't one of course but getting to a final is a big step forward for her after dropping over 20 places in the rankings this year. She only got into this tournament due to a protected world ranking so it'd be a dream if she ends up winning the title. On her way to this final, Vondrousova has had wins over KIki Bertens, Mihaela Buzarnescu, second seeded Naomi Osaka, Paula Badosa and then fourth seeded Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals. Vondrousova has only played Bencic once and won that in a near two and a half hour marathon three setter in Miami. This could be a long match too.
