Barangay Ginebra vs San Miguel Beermen Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup

The San Miguel Beermen travel to Manila to take on Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the seventh round of the PBA Governor’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. A matchup between two of the Philippines biggest teams, either the Beermen or Barangay Ginebra have won 10 of the last 13 cups (also known as conferences) making them the two most successful teams over the last decade. This is an important game for both sides as they are currently each locked on a record of three wins and three losses and occupy the seventh and eighth positions in the table. The structure of the Governors Cup sees the top eight of 12 teams qualifying for the playoffs and teams only play 11 games in this first qualification phase. With only five games remaining for these teams, a loss for either one could send them out of the playoff race temporarily. 

Both teams were able to qualify for the playoffs in the last conference, although the San Miguel Beermen had a much more prosperous campaign - finishing with a 7-4 record and being eliminated in the semi-finals to eventual winners TNT. Ginebra, by comparison, snuck into the eighth seed with a 4-7 record and were promptly disposed of in the first knockout round. Both teams are coming off a loss and will be hoping for a bounce back win in this spot. The Beermen dropped their last game 96-81 while Ginebra suffered a heavy 119-92 loss. An important factor to consider in this matchup is the rest advantage that the visiting Beermen will have. Their last game was on February 16th while their opponents last played on the 18th.
