Barangay Ginebra vs Road Warriors Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup
by Joseph King | in Basketball Predictions
Defending Governors’ Cup champions Barangay Ginebra will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their best-of-five semifinal matchup with the second seeded NLEX Road Warriors. The Gin Kings have been the cream of the crop of this competition in recent years and have lifted the trophy in three of the last four editions. Despite coming into the playoffs with the sixth seed, Barangay will be the team with all the momentum as they overcame their twice-to-win disadvantage in the quarterfinals against TNT in convincing fashion and started this series off with a 95-86 win in game one. Barangay Ginebra have now won four straight and looked poised to make it to yet another finals at the expense of a talented but inexperienced NLEX Road Warriors team. The underdogs NLEX were founded in 2014 and had a breakthrough regular season, finishing the regular season with an 8-3 record and making the team’s first ever semi finals appearance.
This is a tough spot for the Road Warriors. They come up against arguably the PBA’s most storied and widely supported team in Barangay Ginebra who are red hot and will have a major crowd support advantage at the Mall of Asia Arena in Metropolitan Manila. As we’ve mentioned in previous previews for this league, the import players can often decide the success or failure of their clubs and Barangay are fortunate to have one of best to ever lace them up in the PBA in Justin Brownlee. Brownlee is a four time PBA champion and sits seventh in the all time import scoring list. His presence on the court is irreplaceable and he will play a major role if Barangay seek their fourth Governors’ Cup title in the last five editions. Ultimately, the moment may prove to be too big for this still very green NLEX team despite the strong regular season that they were able to put together.
