Barangay Ginebra vs Bolts Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup
by Joseph King | in Basketball Predictions
A crucial game five awaits on Easter Sunday in the PBA Governors’ Cup finals as Barangay Ginebra and Meralco Bolts fight it out for a 3-2 series advantage in this best of seven series. The winner of this game will be only one win away from lifting the trophy, for Ginebra it would mean a stunning fourth title in the competitions last five editions and for the Bolts, their first Governors’ Cup title and finally overcoming the team that had bested them in their previous three finals appearances. Game four finished 95-84 in favor of the defending champion Gin Kings, marking the second time they have battled back from a series deficit after dropping games one and three. Meralco must certainly be feeling the pressure heading into game five, as falling behind and facing elimination against a team as experienced as Ginebra would be an extremely difficult position to get out of.
Ginebra were able to welcome back big man Japeth Aguilar last game after the 35-year-old missed the first three games of the series due to injury. The 2019 finals MVP saw limited minutes in his return but with three days rest leading up to this game, Ginebra will be hoping he can play a bigger part in a pivotal game five. Aguilar’s presence inside would be a massive addition with his ability to challenge at the rim and alter shots. The 6’9 Filipino finished tied for fourth in the most blocks per game this season with 1.2. With the addition of Aguilar and the recently crowned Best Import award winner Justin Brownlee’s continued superb play, Ginebra look to be in a very strong position as they look to take a stranglehold on this series.

Barangay Ginebra - Bolts Key Points
- Ginebra often goes the way of key player Justin Brownlee who is coming off a 27 point, 18 rebound, 7 assist virtuoso in game four. When Brownlee plays well, the Gin Kings tend to win.
- Ginebra received a big boost from recently named Best Conference Player Scottie Thompson in the last game who chipped in with 27 points.
- After the first two games of the series finished over the posted total, games three and four have both gone under the total.

Our Barangay Ginebra vs Bolts Prediction
We’re going to back Barangay Ginebra to win this game and cover the -2 point spread. Aguilar’s return will give Ginebra a big boost and with Brownlee and Thompson both playing excellent basketball, the Kings look to simply have too much for the Bolts to handle. The added mental edge of having beaten this team three times in the finals could play a part here as we get down to the wire. Ultimately we think Ginebra can take this game and likely close things out in game six.
