The ICC Champions Trophy Group Stage continues on Monday with a crucial game between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Defeat for Bangladesh would likely condemn them to elimination from the tournament as well as qualifying the Kiwis. However if the Tigers were to win, then group A would be wide open heading into the third and final group games. So what is our prediction for this potentially decisive match?
Historically, it is a fixture that New Zealand have dominated in the One-Day game. In 45 One Day International matches, New Zealand have won 33 times, Bangladesh have won just 11 matches and there has been one match where no result was declared.
New Zealand has won five of the last six ODI’s between the two teams from September 2023 to December 2023, but their sole defeat came in the last match of that run when the Kiwis were scuttled out for 98, allowing Bangladesh to win by nine wickets after scoring 99 in reply.

Bangladesh - New Zealand: Form Analysis
Bangladesh’s ODI form leading into the tournament wasn’t great and little was expected of the team. Those low expectations were confirmed in their opening group game defeat to India, where they lost by six wickets to one of the tournament's favourites.
Prior to the tournament, Bangladesh lost a One Day series 3-0 to the West Indies and were also beaten 2-1 by Afghanistan in another three-game One Day series in November last year.
As such, Bangladesh have won one of their last seven one-dayers.
New Zealand head into this tournament in great form in the one-day game, winning nine of their last eleven one-day matches.
The Kiwis won a pre-tournament event, beating Pakistan in the final.
They followed that up with a comfortable victory over Pakistan in the opening game of Group A in the Champions Trophy, scoring 320 for the loss of five wickets. They then scuttled out the hosts and holders for 260 in a couple of balls more than 47 overs.

Bangladesh & New Zealand Squad Analysis
Neither team is suffering with any injuries heading into their second game in Group A of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Bangladeshi hopes may lie with young bowler Nahid Rana.
The 22-year-old was hugely impressive in a 2-0 test win over Pakistan in 2024. He was omitted from the team for the opening game against India, in which the Bangladesh bowlers struggled against India’s batsmen.
Rana could come into consideration for sdelection here against another top-level batting lineup in what must be considered as a must-win game for the Tigers.
New Zealand will be full of confidence given their recent form in ODIs and the former holders of this trophy will be confident that their batting lineup will have plenty of opportunities to score runs.
Kane Williamson has hit 14 ODI centuries and averages almost 50 and he will want to bounce back after being skittled out for just one run in the win over Pakistan.
However with opener Will Young and wicketkeeper Tom Latham already hitting centuries in the big win over Pakistan, they'll be confident of a second victory here.

Our Bangladesh vs New Zealand Prediction
Our prediction for the Bangladesh vs. New Zealand ICC Champions Trophy match is: Any Century in Match - Yes.
The data for this game all points towards a somewhat convincing win for New Zealand, despite Bangladesh putting up a good resistance against India in their opening match of the Champions Trophy. New Zealand's batsmen are in great form though and four of them have hit centuries in their last four ODI games. Including two against Pakistan. With a Bangladesh player also hitting the ton against India, a century in the match looks a good bet.
Bangladesh vs New Zealand - Other Interesting Predictions
Highest Opening Partnership - New Zealand
Against Pakistan, New Zealand's openers put on 39 runs before losing their first wicket. However, Bangladesh lost their first wicket against India after just one run and had seen their top five batsmen dismissed with just 35 runs on the board, three of who went for a duck.
The Kiwi's will know that they need to improve on that score as they progress in the tournament and they should be confident against a Bangladesh attack that took their first wicket against India with 69 runs on the board.
