French side Aviron Bayonnais will host Welsh outfit Scarlets at the Stade Jean-Dauger this Saturday. The two meet in a Challenge Cup match and and below we have a prediction.

Following a summer of heavy investment, L'Aviron are enjoying a decent season in the French Top 14. It is largely the reason they currently sit fifth on the standings.

Grégory Patat’s men are coming from a 21-13 win over Stade Francais Paris that boosted their playoff hopes. The victory ensured that Bayonne maintained their 100% home record this season having not dropped a single point at their home ground.

Scarlets have posted a mixed start to their United Rugby Championship season that places them ninth with 17 points from seven games. This has been as a result of their slow start to the season, which saw them fail to win any of their opening three games.

Dwayne Peel’s men have, however, steadied their ship following a wobbly start, winning three of their last four games. The Turks are coming from a 17-15 defeat to Glasgow Warriors away from home.

Heading to the clash against Bayonne, Scarlets will draw inspiration from winning their last four head-to-head encounters. The run includes two away wins against the French side in their recent matches at Stade Jean-Dauger.
