The Aussies are looking to become the first team in history to hold the title in all three formats of the game simultaneously. They were crowned Test and one-day international champions last year.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are in search of their first major title and are featuring in their second consecutive Super Eight stage at a T20 World Cup.

Australia - Bangladesh Squad Analysis
Marcus Stoinis has been Australia’s main contributor with the bat in this competition, currently ranked third in the leading run-scorer standings. The all-rounder has scored 156 runs in three innings and trails Rahmanullah Gurbaz by 11 runs.
Travis Head has continued his impressive form this year and currently ranks fifth among the top scorers in the T20 World Cup. He scored an incredible 567 at the Indian Premier League earlier this year and has notched up 148 in this competition.
Adam Zampa is Australia’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament. The spinner has taken nine wickets in four matches, which is tied for second, three wickets behind Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi.
Shakib Al Hasan has had a relatively quiet tournament by his standards but his leadership and experience has been invaluable to Bangladesh. The all-rounder steered the side to victory over the Netherlands with an excellent unbeaten 64 of 46 balls in game three.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been the pick of the Tigers bowlers in the competition and is one of the six bowlers tied for second on nine wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman rounds out the top-ten bowlers in the tournament, currently in seven wickets after four games.
Australia - Bangladesh Form Analysis
Australia were arguably the pick of the sides in the first round. They were one of only three teams, along with the West Indies and South Africa, to have played and won all four of their games in the group stage.
The Baggy Greens beat Oman by 39 runs in their opening match before downing England by 36 runs in match two. The victory over the Three Lions marked the highest score in the tournament at the time.
Match three saw the Aussies ease past Namibia by a whopping nine wickets and the final group stage match ended in a five-wicket victory over Scotland.
Mitch Marsh’s side have now won six of their last seven T20 internationals, with the only exception being a defeat to the West Indies in a warm-up match at the start of the month.
Australia are ranked second in the world in T20Is, while Bangladesh are ninth.
However, despite the gap in ranking, many would agree that Bangladesh play their best cricket in the shortest format.
The Tigers also have a very decent record against the Aussies in T20Is. In 10 previous meetings across all competitions, Australia have won six, while Bangladesh have won four. That record stems from an excellent five-match series victory, where they beat the Aussies 4-1 back in 2021.
In this tournament, Bangladesh finished second behind South Africa in Group D. Their only defeat was against the Proteas, while they beat Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Netherlands to earn six points and a net run rate of +0.616.
Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men have won four and lost four of their last eight T20 internationals in all competitions and are the clear underdogs in this encounter.
