The 10th-place Atlanta Hawks play host to the 15th-place Detroit Pistons for this NBA Eastern Conference clash. The Hawks are 10-15 on the season and continue to slip down the standings after an ugly stretch of form. Atlanta is coming off a 127-119 loss to the Cavaliers, the team’s sixth defeat in the last seven games. Their only win during that time occurred last Friday where they were able to take down the Raptors 125-104 at home. The Hawks problem this entire season so far hasn’t been their offense, which they can do at an elite level, but their defense. Atlanta is giving up the third-most points per game in the league at 122.7 and ranks 26th in the NBA in adjusted defensive rating. They haven’t fared much better when playing in front of the home crowd as they’ve posted just a 3-7 record at the State Farm Arena so far this campaign.

The Pistons’ horror season continues as they have now slipped to an anemic 2-24 record. They’re currently on pace to be the worst team in NBA history and things don’t look like they’re going to suddenly change anytime soon. The visitors are coming off a game which saw them give up their highest points total of the season in a 146-114 defeat to the Bucks on Saturday. It also marked their 23rd consecutive loss which is a franchise record. Detroit simply doesn’t have enough offensive firepower to compete with teams and keep up with these high points totals they are allowing. The Pistons are averaging just 108.3 points per game this year, third worst in the NBA, and have eclipsed the 120+ point mark just twice all season. This is the last of a three game road trip before heading back to Detroit to take on the Jazz.
