Atlanta Braves vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals face off for the third of a four game series with each team looking to close the gap on first place in their respective divisions. The Braves trail the first place Mets by only 2.5 games in the NL East heading into this one after a 7-3 run in the last 10 games has put the defending champions in striking distance. Atlanta won the first two games of the series with the most recent finishing 7-1 thanks to a five run explosion in the bottom of the first inning. They’ll look to make it seven in a row against the Cards on the season as Atlanta has had their number all season. A recent 4-6 run over the last 10 games has seen St. Louis fall three games behind the first-place Brewers in the NL Central and they will hope to stop the bleeding in these final two games before returning home to take on the Phillies next.
Taking the mound for the Braves is Max Fried, who will look to add another win to his 8-2 record with 2.66 ERA on the season. Fried has looked good in recent outings, with his latest start an impressive seven inning performance where he gave up just one earned run on five hits in a 9-1 Atlanta win. The Braves have had excellent recent success with the 28-year-old lefty on the hill and have won the last eight consecutive games that Fried has gotten the start. On the other side, Miles Mikolas gets the start for the Cardinals and has a 5-6 record with a strong 2.61 ERA on the season. While Mikolas has pitched pretty well this season, the Cardinal’s bats can’t seem to find any consistency with the 33-year-old on the mound and the team is just 5-5 over his last 10 starts. Mikolas didn’t look great in his last outing, giving up four runs on six hits with only one strikeout in just five innings of work.

Our Atlanta Braves vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
We’re going to back the Atlanta Braves to get the win in this game. Atlanta has dominated St. Louis all season and we see that trend continuing here as the two teams appear to be heading in opposite directions given their recent form. There were some worrying signs for Cards starter Mikolas in his last outing and he could struggle here against a Braves team that has been faring very well against right handed pitchers lately. Additionally, the Cards have struggled against lefties recently and the Braves’ Max Fried has looked strong on the mound this season. This should be a comfortable win for the home team.
