Ashleigh Barty vs Karolina Pliskova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Wimbledon Championships

A first time winner of the Wimbledon women's singles title is guaranteed as Ashleigh Barty takes on Karolina Pliskova. Barty is the world number one and top seed but has only ever won one Grand Slam title. Three titles have already been won this year by the Australian, but it'd mean everything to her if winning Wimbledon. A win will see her become the first Australian to win the title in 41 years. The last was Evonne Cawley and Barty knows she needs to vastly increase the number of Grand Slams she's won. This is the first time that Barty has got past the fourth round at Wimbledon. Her form has been steadily improving as the tournament has progressed and 38 winners were hit in her semi-final against Angelique Kerber. Barty leads Pliskova 5-2 in previous meetings and 1-1 on grass. A tie-break may be on the cards in this match. There have been six in seven games and three on grass. Strangely, Pliskova has won the first set in six of their seven matches.

Pliskova (seeded eigth) would love to do that in this final, especially after her recent disastrous decider against Iga Swiatek in Rome. Only 13 points were won in a 46 minute 6-0 6-0 loss. She can't afford to have something like that happen in this match. Pliskova began the year ranked sixth but started this tournament in 13th. The former world number one is back up to seventh in the live rankings. Beat Barty and the Czech will climb to fourth. Like her opponent, Pliskova had never previously got past the fourth round at Wimbledon. It's her second Grand Slam final, the oter being a loss in the 2016 US Open. Form has been good in this tournament and she fought back from a set down to beat second seeded Aryna Sabalenka in her semi-final. Barty looks in the better form though and she can finally win the Wimbledon title.
