One of these players will achieve a dream on Saturday. Ashleigh Barty looks to finally win her home Grand Slam, while Danielle Collins attempts to win her first. Barty is the world number one and top seed for this tournament. However, only two Grand Slam titles have been won at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Winning more is her aim to solidify her legacy but above all Barty wants to win the Australian Open. Not since 1978 has an Australian woman won this title, that record is likely to go this weekend. Barty hasn’t lost any of her 10 matches this year and is yet to drop a set in this tournament. Only 21 games have been lost in six matches on her way to the final with just six lost in the last two rounds.
Danielle Collins is the 27th seed but will be much higher in the future. Her run to this first Grand Slam final will see her rise to 10th when the new list is published. Collins has lost three of her previous four matches against Barty. Their last meeting will give her some hope as she beat Barty in Australia last year. Collins has some affection for Australia as her previous best in a Grand Slam was a semi-final appearance down under three years ago. Two of her matches on this way to the final have gone to three sets, those were against Clara Tauson and Elise Mertens. It's unlikely Collins will get that far here.
