Top seeded Aryna Sabalenka can get through to the final of the Brisbane International. The semi-finals see her take on the eighth seeded Victoria Azarenka with the winner up against either second seed Elena Rybakina or unseeded Linda Noskova. Sabalenka has a great recent record in Australia with the Adelaide International and Australian Open being won last year. The 25-year-old is ranked second in the world and remains in that position in the live list. So far in this tournament she has been in dominant form with all three of her matches being won in straight sets. That included beating two seeds, Zhu Lin (15th) and in the quarter finals, fifth seed Daria Kasatkina. Only nine games have been lost in six sets with two won to love. Sabalenka leads her opponent 3-1 in previous meetings but this is their first match since 2021. All four previous meetings have been played on a hard court which is the surface this tournament is being played on.

Victoria Azarenka was ranked 23rd at the start of this tournament. Her run to this semi-final has taken her to 22nd and another place can be climbed if winning this match. The 34-year-old had lost her last three matches as the 2023 season drew to a close. Her last semi-final was in last year's Australian Open when being beaten by Elena Rybakina. A win here will take Azarenka into her first WTA singles final since Indian Wells in 2021. More good form has been shown in Australia in the past week.
