Sabalenka is playing in the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament for the third time. After Madison Keys was beaten at the weekend, Sabalenka has the chance now to rise to the top spot in the Live Race.
The 26-year-old has reached this quarter-final without losing a set. Only 12 games have been lost in those matches with eight in Monday's fourth round win over defending champion Danielle Collins.
Qinwen Zheng is in her first ever Miami Open quarter-final. Another first will need to be achieved if the Chinese player is to make it to the semi-finals. Zheng has had five previous matches against Sabalenka and lost them all. All but one of those losses came on an outdoor hard court.
This is only the second quarter-final that Zheng has reached this year. Wins have come in Miami against Lauren Davis, Taylor Townsend and Ashlyn Krueger with no sets lost. We believe that run will end here and Sabalenka can make it to the last four.
