This year’s Cincinnati Open final will be contested by third seed Aryna Sabalenka and sixth seed Jessica Pegula. This will be the seventh career match between the two and the first in a championship match. Read on for a highlight of the players’ stats and our prediction.

Aryna Sabalenka got the better of top seed Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the semi-finals. The Belarussian has often struggled against Swiatek and had this season lost their first two encounters.

Advancing to her fifth final of the year at the expense of the highly favoured Pole will have Sabalenka confident of victory. The world number three, who has defeated Pegula four times before, has struggled in tournament deciders.

She has lost three finals already this year and in her career has lost the same number of finals as she has won.

Jessica Pegula has been in spectacular form over the last two weeks. She has won nine successive fixtures which have all been on hard courts.

This streak started in Toronto where she successfully defended her Rogers Cup title and now she is one win away from another WTA 1000 crown. The American saw off the in-form Paula Badosa in three sets in the semi-finals to claim her 30th win of the season.

Pegula, who will move up to fifth in the live ranking if she wins here, has defeated Sabalenka twice before. Both of her wins came on hard courts. She won their most recent matchup last year during the WTA Finals in Cancun.

Pegula won both finals she has contested so far in 2024.
