Second seed Holger Rune faces fifth-seeded Arthur Fils in the last eight of the Hamburg Open. Whoever wins this match will be up against either third-seeded Sebastian Baez or fifth seed Luciano Darderi in the last four of this clay court tournament.

Rune is the world number 17 but up to 16th in the live rankings. He can climb to 15th if reaching the final. If he does make it that far, it'll be his second final of the year. His onl final so far was in January in a hard court tournament.

His only clay court semi-final on this surface was achieved in Munich, Germany and in total, this is his third clay court quarter-final of the year. To get this far, Rune has beaten unseeded Fabian Marozsan and qualifier Marco Trungelliti, both in straight sets.

Arthur Fils is having a memorable week as this run to the last eight has taken him to a career-high 25th. He's in his third ATP Tour clay court quarter-final of the year and has won one Challenger Tour title on this surface.

The 20-year-old had a tough time in the first round though as he had to come from behind to beat unseeded Jaume Munar. Only four games were lost in the two sets that he won. He followed that up with a straight sets win over unseeded Laslo Djere, though the first set did need a tie-break.
