Arthur Fils is the 24th seed for the US Open but has never made it past round two of this hard court Grand Slam. He hopes to wipe out that statistic with a win over qualifier Gabriel Diallo, Here's our match prediction.

Fils is the world number 24 but up a place in the live rankings. That's still three places below the career-high he achieved last month. This is only his second time in the US Open and last year he was beaten at this stage.

Round one saw him beat wild card Learner Thien in four sets. He won the opener, dropped the second but then only lost three games in the next two sets. His form on hard courts hasn't been that great in recent months.

He'd lost four of his last five matches on this surface. This year has seen him win the Hamburg clay court tournament but there have been some good results on hard courts. His best performance has been a semi-final in Auckland.

Gabriel Diallo is down at 143rd in the latest rankings. He had to qualify to get into the main draw of this Grand Slam for the first time. He won three matches but two of them saw him drop a set.

Round one saw him defeat Jaume Munar in four sets, dropping the second. His wins have taken him to 116th in the live rankings and that's a new career high. He has been in good form of late with a Challenger Tour semi-final and a title won in July.
