Alex de Minaur faces French opposition for the second round in a row at Wimbledon. The ninth seed faces unseeded Arthur Fils in the last 16 of this grass court Grand Slam. For the winner, there's a quarter-final against either second seed Novak Djokovic or 15th seed Holger Rune.

De Minaur has had the chance to have a few days off as his scheduled third round opponent Lucas Pouille withdrew from their match. The Australian is ninth in the live rankings but beating Fils will take him up to a career-high sixth, a position he already holds in the Live Race.

He's already had a successful grass court season with a title triumph in the Libema Open. He's in the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second time. The other occasion was in 2022 but he failed to make it into the last eight.

So far in this tournament, he's had wins over James Duckworth and Jaume Munar. He's yet to drop a set but the first round match against Duckworth saw each of the three sets decided by a tie-break. He trails Fils 1-0 in previous meetings but that was played on clay.

Arthur Fils is now 28th in the live rankings and can climb as high as 24th if winning this match. He's a place lower in the Live ATP Race. This is his second time in this tournament, but he failed to win a match last year.

It's gone much better this time around with wins over Dominic Stricker, seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz (who retired in the fourth set) and in round three, Roman Safiullin. The Frenchman trailed two sets to one in that match. We go for de Minaur to win but both players to win a set.
