Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in Baseball Predictions
The MLB Playoffs continue on with the NLCS as the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Philadelphia Phillies for game four. The Diamondbacks will be looking to pull level at two games a piece after getting their first win of the series to make it 2-1. Games four and five of this best of seven series take place in Arizona while games six and seven will be played in Philadelphia. The team to emerge victorious moves onto the World Series for a matchup against either the Houston Astros or the Texas Rangers.
The Diamondbacks faced a must-win situation in game three and were able to emerge with a 2-1 win thanks to a Ketel Marte walk off hit in the bottom of the ninth. Rookie Brandon Pfaadt deserves immense praise for shutting down the Phillies red-hot lineup and pitching almost six innings of shutout baseball. The win snapped a two game losing streak for Arizona and improved their home record to 45 wins and 38 wins in the regular season and playoffs combined. The Dbacks look set for a bullpen game in this one as they’ll start the game with reliever Joe Mantiply on the mound. The lefty has pitched a total of 38 innings in the regular season and finished with an ERA of 4.62.
Philadelphia saw their four game winning streak brought to an end in game three but they remain in a strong position in this series. The Phillies will know if they can just steal one of the next two away games then they’ll have two cracks at closing out the series in front of the influential Philly crowd. Philadelphia remains arguably the hottest team of the four remaining playoff contenders with their one run scored in the previous game an outlier in this postseason. They’ll start game four with Cristopher Sanchez on the mound who finished the regular season with a 3-5 record, 3.44 ERA and a 1.047 WHIP.
