Spain are the hosts and after the elimination of both France and Croatia in the group stages are looking a good bet to win the title. They have Rafael Nadal in good form and he doesn't seem to have any injury problems to hinder him. Spain won both of their group matches with a 2-1 win over Russia and 3-0 defeat of Japan. The only match lost was when Roberto Bautista Agut lost to Andrey Rublev in the first game of their match against Russia. Agut is by no means a weak link though and won his next match against Nikola Mektic of Croatia for the loss of just four games. Nadal has won both of his matches in straight sets, though he did need a tie-break in one of them, when up against Karen Khachanov.

Argentina are the highest seeds left in the tournament. They are third compared to their opponents seeding of seventh. The Argentinian team are in this tie though because they were unable to win their group. They opened with a straightforward 3-0 win over Chile without a set being dropped. Life wasn't so easy against Germany though and they lost that match 3-0. Guido Pella lost in three sets to Phillip Kohlscreiber and then Diego Schwartzman surprisingly lost in straight sets to Jan-Lennard Struff. The doubles proved the most exciting match with the Germans winning a third-set tie-break 20 points to 18. With the Germans beating Chile 2-1 in the final group match, Argentina qualified as one of the two best second placed teams. They are really up against it in this quarter final though and the tip is for a Spanish victory.
