The final standings in Pool C in the volleyball competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be decided when Argentina take on Germany on Friday afternoon. La Albiceleste are bottom of the group with zero points, while the Eagles are in third place with three points. Here’s our match prediction for this group decider. 

Pool C has been the most wide-open of any at this year’s Olympics with all four teams heading into the final round of matches with a chance of qualifying for the next round. 

However, Argentina’s hopes are hanging by a thread as they need all three points here as well as results elsewhere to go in their favour to secure a best third-place qualifier berth. 

La Albiceleste have found it tough in Paris, losing their opening match 3-0 to Team USA before going down 3-1 to Japan on Wednesday afternoon. They are now on a five-match losing streak in all competitions and on the verge of elimination, with most ruling them out of this match as well. 

Meanwhile, Germany are heading into their final match of the group in a favourable position and three points here will guarantee them a spot in the next round, whether as an automatic qualifier or as a best third-placed finisher. 

The Eagles won their opening match 3-2 against Japan, coming from 2-1 down but were unable to do likewise against the USA in match two, ending on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline. 

However, while Germany are fancied to progress, it is worth noting that they have loset each of their last five matches against La Albiceleste dating back to 2019.
