Australia won their opening match in Group B when defeating Nigeria 86-68. It wasn't the most convincing of wins though and they actually lost the third quarter 23-21 and were only nine points ahead going into the final quarter though they never looked like losing the match. Liz Cambage was in impressive form for the Australians scoring 34 points in the match but admitted after the game Australia needed to make some improvement with too many turnovers and too many offensive rebounds. The win was their seventh in a row following success at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

Argentina didn't get off to such a good start losing 63-37 to Turkey in their Group B opener. They trailed by 27 points after the third quarter, only scoring four points in that quarter but won the last section of play 13-12. However, 37 points in a match isn't a great return and there's little chance of them getting anything from this game meaning their final group match against Nigeria will decide if they can finish in third and reach the knock-out stages. That's three straight defeats for the Argentinians and the last time they played Australia was two years ago when they lost by a 48-point margin. Go for under 138.5 points to be scored in this match.
