World number 45 Anna Blinkova and wildcard Karolina Pliskova will face off next at the Indian Wells Open. They will square off in the first round with the winner advancing to take on fifth seed Jessica Pegula. Anna Blinkova is coming off a quarterfinal finish in San Diego. This was the best result of an unimpressive start to the year for the Russian. Blinkova has compiled a 5-6 record with four of her wins as well as four of her losses coming on hard courts. Despite a good showing in her last event, Blinkova has dropped one place to 46th in the live ranking. The 25-year-old made her main draw debut in this WTA 1000 event last season and produced a second-round finish.
