Anna Blinkova vs Jodie Burrage Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

Jodie Anna Burrage is in the US Open main draw for the first time. The 96th ranked player takes on Anna Blinkova and the winner has a potentially tough task in round two. That's because the scheduled opponent is either Marya Zanevska or more likely, the second seed Arya Sabalenka. Before this tournament, the only Grand Slam main draw Burrage had reached was at Wimbledon. Three matches there have seen her win just one match this year. Two previous attempts to qualify for the US Open have seen her win one of her three matches. This year has seen the 24-year-old break into the top 100 and in the live rankings is up to a career high 92nd. Earlier this month she reached the last 16 of a WTA 125 hard court event held in Stanford. Before that, the British player had got to the last eight of an ITF tournament in Spain. An ITF hard court tournament was won in April with a win over Lucia Bronzetti (ranked 73rd at the time) in the final. 

Anna Blinkova will be a tough opponent to beat as the Russian is ranked 38th in the latest list. Blinkova will be hoping to finally break her duck in New York. The Russian has lost in the first round of each of her five main draw appearances in the US Open. Last year saw her knocked out in the second qualifying round. This year began with another first round exit, this time in Australia. It's got better since then though with the third round reached at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon. That equalled her best ever Grand Slam performance of a third round appearance at Roland Garros in 2019. Current form is a worry with only one win in her last six matches. She'll hope to recapture the form seen earlier this year when reaching the final of the Hobart International hard court tournament. Only four of her last 14 hard court matches has been won.
