Unseeded Anna Blinkova and world number 192 Elina Svitolina will on Friday meet in the third round at the French Open. Blinkova lost to Svitolina in the final at Strasbourg right before coming to Roland Garros and will be out for revenge. She's had a rocky campaign so far but has enjoyed playing on clay, winning 10 of her 16 matches. She battled from a set down to defeat fifth seed and crowd favorite Caroline Garcia in the second round. The win moved her up 14 places to 42nd in the live ranking. This will have her confidant of forging through and advancing past the third round here for the first time. Elina Svitolina made a belated start to the season after missing a year due to maternity leave. She made her return as the season was switching to clay and has played all her 16 matches on the surface. The Ukrainian has not seemed out of step and has instead looked even more determined. The win in Strasbourg was her 17th at tour level and came almost two years after her last success. She has carried that momentum to Paris where she has dropped only one set. This was against the qualifier Storm Hunter where she was forced to come back from a set down. Svitolina is playing with a protected ranking. She has however moved up 57 places after her second-round win and is placed at number 135 in the live ranking.
