Next up for the winner of this outdoor hard court match is a second round clash with either 12th seed Mirra Andreeva or unseeded Katie Volynets. Sramkova has only won two of her seven matches this year. Her most recent tournament saw her beaten in round one by Belinda Bencic in Abu Dhabi.

That was the third loss she's suffered in her last four matches. Her best run this year has been getting to the second round of the Australian Open. These two players have met a couple of times before. They are level at 1-1 but Sramkova won the only meeting on hard courts.

That was played in Beijing last year at a time when Kalinina was really struggling with a run of six losses in seven matches.

Her form has returned in 2025 and six of her ten matches have been won. In Cluj last week, the Ukrainian made it to the quarter-finals. That was her second deep run this year after reaching the last four in Brisbane.
