Anhelina Kalinina vs Barbora Krejcikova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA San Diego Open

Barbora Krejcikova begins her campaign in the San Diego Open. The Czech is seeded fourth and takes on unseeded Anhelina Kalinina. Up for grabs is a quarter final place with the possible opponents including seventh seed Beatriz Haddad-Mai and Marta Kostyuk. Krejcikova (ranked 13th in the world) was given a wild card into this tournament and badly needs to get back into winning ways. The 27-year-old has lost her last four matches and didn't win a set in any of them. The last three of those losses were all sustained on a hard court which is the surface being used for this tournament. It's not that Krejcikova has a poor record on hard courts. The Czech is a former French Open champion but earlier this year won the hard court title in Dubai beating the top three ranked players in the world. Krejcikova had to retire hurt at Wimbledon and doesn't seem to have been the same since.

Anhelina Kalinina has never beaten Krejcikova. They had a match on clay and then this year, Kalinina lost in straight sets to the Czech at the hard court Australian Open. Kalinina is ranked 28th, just below her career high of 25th. Her current form isn't that impressive either but at least she has been getting some victories. Only two of her last eight matches had been won before this tournament began. The first round saw her beat Karolina Pliskova but it showed how inconsistent she is. The first set was won but then Kalinina failed to win a single game in the next, before taking the final set 6-3. This is a tough match to predict and over 21.5 games is our tip.
