Unseeded Andy Murray hopes to build on his first round win in Miami over Matteo Berrettini. He takes on the 29th seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry for a place in the third round of this Masters 1000 tournament. The winner will be up against either fifh seed Andrey Rublev (who beat Murray at Indian Wells) or unseeded Tomas Machac. Murray's first round win has taken him to 58th in the live rankings. One of his main targets at present is to get into the top 56 as that would gain him entry into the Paris Olympics men's singles tournament. Murray is a former gold medalist and wants one more appearance before retiring later this year. He beat Berrettini in three sets after losing the first. It was a fortunate win as his opponent was struggling with dizziness in the latter stages of the match. Murray trails Etcheverry 2-1 in previous meetings. He won at Indian Wells last year but has since lost to him in Basel and at this year's Australian Open. They are 1-1 on outdoor hard cours which is the surface for this match.

Etcheverry is at 30th in the latest rankings, three places behind the career high he achieved in February of this year. The Argentinian reached the last 32 of this year's Australian Open, losing to Novak Djokovic. He then played on the South American clay court tour with quarter final appearances in both Cordoba and Buenos Aires. He had to retire in his match against Nicolas Jarry in Buenos Aires at the end of February and this is his first match since then. This is only his second time in Miami and he lost at this stage last year. We tip Murray to get a hard fought win here.
