Andy Murray vs Matteo Berrettini Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

13th seed Matteo Berrettini faces Andy Murray in the US Open third round. The winner of this match will take on either unseeded Alejandri Davidovich-Fokina or qualifier Daniel Elahi Gallan in the last 16. Berrettini has slipped to 14th in the world rankings after losing all the points he earned when reaching the Wimbledon final this year and is 16th in the live rankings as he's defending the points won when making it to the quarter finals here last year. He's had an up and down year with title successes but long periods off court due to injury. He won two grass court tournaments when making his comeback and one saw him beat Murray in the Stuttgart final. Berrettini missed Wimbledon due to COVID-19 but he bounced back well by getting to the final of the Gstaad clay court tournament. His form in America hasn' t been so good with two last 64 defeats. Better results have come in the US Open where his last three appearances have produced a sem-final and a quarter final. He's had wins over qualifier Nicolas Jarry (in straight sets) and lucky loser Hugo Grenier in four sets.

Andy Murray won this title in 2012 but this is the first time since 2016 that he's made it to the third round. Not since Wimbledon five years ago has he made it to the fourth round of a Grand Slam. He's up to 43rd in the live rankings after two wins in this tournament over 24th seeded Francisco Cerundolo and wild card Emilio Nava. The latter win was in four sets after losing the opening one. Only three times this year has Murray won three matches in a tournament. The only time he managed four was in Adelaide at the start of this year. He trails Berrettini 2-1 in head-to-head matches. Both of those defeats came on grass in the past year or so. Murray's only win was on a hard court three years ago with both sets won on tie-breaks. This is a tough task for Murray and the tip is for Berrettini to win.
