The top seed, Andy Murray, will take on eighth-seed Dominic Stricker in the quarter-final of the Nottingham Challenger event on Friday. The winner of this match will face either Nuno Borges or Sho Shimabukuro in the semi-final. Following his success at the Surbiton Challenger tournament at the start of the month and his opening-round wins here, Murray is still undefeated on the grass this season. He is now 20-9 for the year and 7-0 on the grass. The Brit overcame Joris De Loore and Hugo Grenier in the earlier rounds, both in straight sets. Murray has only dropped one set in his winning grasscourt run, which came against Jason Kubler at the start of the month. The 34-year-old now prepares for his eighth match inside two weeks and looks in a great rhythm, showing no signs of the fitness issues that have plagued him over recent years. Dominic Stricker has worked hard this season, and he’s already tasted success on the Challenger circuit, earning two trophies to date. The first came in the Rovereto event back in February over Giulio Zeppieri, and the second was at the start of last month when he overcame Sebastian Ofner to claim the Prague Challenger title. The Swiss is now 22-8 for the year and 2-0 on the grass. He has also seen his world ranking improve significantly, from 153rd back in February down to 114th at present. A win here could propel him to 110th. Following a first-round exit at Roland Garros, Stricker has bounced back well here in Nottingham, beating Denis Kudla and Ryan Peniston in straight sets in the first two rounds. He now faces his sternest test by far in this tournament and will need to lift his level in order to stand a chance against the resilient veteran.
