He withdrew from the Metz tournament after reaching the quarter-finals and then lost all his three round-robin matches in the ATP Finals. Those three defeats were to top ten ranked players though, including two of the top three.
Fabian Marozsan is ranked 58th but was a career-high 36th in May 2024. The Hungarian beat Roman Safiullin in the first round of this tournament. He only dropped one game in the first set but had to go to a tie-break to win the second.
A win over Rublev can take him up to 56th in the live list. The 25-year-old had lost four successive matches before reaching the last eight in Belgrade two months ago, his first hard court quarter-final since March.
