Top seeded Andrey Rublev faces Diego Schwartmann in the last eight of the San Diego Open. Rublev is bidding to win his second singles title of the year, following success in Rotterdam in March. He's been in highly consistent form though with three semi-finals and three other finals reached. Recently he got to the final of the Cincinnati Masters, the second final at that level (just below Grand Slams) of the year. He beat Brandon Nakashima in his one match in this tournament and did so for the loss of just three games. He is looking for another win over Schwartzmann after beating him last week in the Laver Cup.

Their only meeting before last week was in the 2017 French Open when Schwartzmann won in five sets on clay, when Rublev was still a teenager. Schwartzmann is the world number 15 but the sixth seed for this San Diego Open. The Argentinian has also won one title this year, a clay court success in his home country at the start of March. He hasn't reached a semi-final since then, but did get to the last eight of the French Open. This week has seen him defeat Federico Gaio and then Lloyd Harris, coming from a set down to win. Bet on Rublev to win this.
