Andrey Rublev vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Australian Open

A week or so ago these two players joined together to win the ATP Cup. Now Daniili Medvedev and Andrey Rublev battle it out for a place in the last four of the Australian Open. Medvedev is the fourth seed for this tournament but is still looking to win his first Grand Slam. He has been getting closer though but only in New York. 2019 saw him lose in the US Open final and he made the last four there last year. However, this is the first time the Russian has made it to the last eight of a Grand Slam not held in the USA. His best previous performance here was the fourth round in both 2019 and 2020, finally he's made it to the last eight. It's not a massive suprise as he ended 2020 with a win at the ATP Tour Finals and then of course that ATP Cup success this year. Medvedev won all four of his matches in that team tournament with wins over Diego Schwartzmann, Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini, all in the world's top ten. In this tournament, Medvedev has won all bar one of his matches in straight sets. His toughest battle was in the third round when beating Filip Krajanovic in five sets. He led 2-0, was pulled back to 2-2 and won the final set decider without losing a game. 

Andrey Rublev also had a strong end to 2020. He reached the quarter finals at the French Open and then won two tournaments in Vienna. Overall he won five tournaments last year as he climbed into the world's top ten. He also went undefeated in the ATP Cup but all his four wins were against players ranked outside the top ten. Rublev made it to two Grand Slam quarter finals last year, the furthest he'd got since 2017. This is his best performance in the Australian Open beating the fourth round he reached last year. He is yet to lose a set in this tournament and in the last round won the first two sets against Casper Ruud before his opponent retired. He has had four previous matches against his opponent (three on the main tour) and not won any of them. Back Medvedev to get another win over his compatriot.
