Britain's Kyle Edmund is the only seed left in the New York Open and takes on Andreas Seppi in the final. Edmund is seeded eighth for this tournament and the current world number 62. The live rankings already have him up to 50, making him Britain's number two ranked player behind Daniel Evans. Edmund won his first two matches in straight sets but then ran into trouble against Kwon Soo-Woo having to come from a set down to reach the last four. He was in much better form in that round as he defeated sixth seeded Miomir Kecmanovic for the loss of just five games. The win took Edmund into his first final since winning the 2018 European Open.

Andreas Seppi has managed to make it all the way to the final without having to face a seeded player. He struggled in the first round needing to go to three sets to get past Damir Dzumhur, losing the second set 6-1. The quarter final was also a difficult match for the Italian with the first set lost on a tie-break to Jordan Thompson before a comeback. The last four saw him up against qualifier Jason Jung who had caused havoc in the top half of the draw. Jung had beaten Kevin Anderson, Cameron Norrie and defending champion Reilly Opelka but could only win five games against Seppi. The Italian has a best ranking of 18th but has never made it to the quarter final in a Grand Slam and lost in the second round at the Australian Open. That was disappointing after reaching the final of the Sydney International. Edmund is ranked 36 places above his opponent and has won four of their previous five meetings. Go for Edmund to win the title.
