Qualifier Anca Todoni takes on unseeded Cristina Bucsa for a place in round two of the outdoor hard court Brisbane International. A tough task lies ahead for the winner with the scheduled opponent being 12th seed Linda Noskova. Time for our match prediction.

Anca Todoni is the current world number 118 and that's only six places below her career-high of 112th achieved last month. Last month saw her win a WTA 125 title in Bolivia but that was on clay. That is her preferred surface with two Challenger Tour events also won this year.

Two hard court ITF quarter-finals have been reached this year and the Romanian was impressive in the qualifying rounds of this tournament. The 20-year-old recorded wins over Mirjam Bjorklund and fifth seed Anna Karolina Schmeidlova and only lost eight games.

Cristina Bucsa is ranked 103rd and this is her first tournament since the end of October. Three of her last four matches have ended in defeat with the only player beaten being ranked 412th. In the last Brisbane International, Bucsa lost in the second round to Magda Linette.

A win over Jasmine Paolini followed in Adelaide but Bucsa hasn't been able to repeat that level of form since. We tip Todoni to get the win here.
