Anastasia Potapova vs Marketa Vondrousova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Linz

Anastasia Potapova and Marketa Vondrousova will face off in the semifinals of the 2023 Linz Open on Saturday. The match will be played on an indoor hard court with the winner advancing to play either first seed Maria Sakkari or sixth seed Petra Martic in the final. Potapova is seeded eighth in this tournament while Vondrousova is unseeded. Vondrousova has won the two previous meetings between the two in straight sets. Both matches were played on clay in 2019 at the French Open and in Budapest. Current world number 89 Vondrousova is yet to drop a set in Linz and advanced to her first semifinal here after the qualifier Dalma Galfi was forced to retire during the first set of their matchup in the previous round. A former French Open finalist, Vondrousova has seen a dip in form in past seasons, occasioned by a string of injuries but looks like she is slowly getting back to her best. She has risen to 74th in the live ranking and she could break back into the top 50 if she goes on to win the tournament.

Anastasia Potapova is also having an amazing year so far which has seen her reach at least the quarterfinals stage in two of her five tournaments in 2023. The 21-year-old was eliminated in the last eight in Lyon before arriving in Linz. On her path to the semis here she has been forced to come back after dropping the first set twice which happened in the first round against Lucia Bronzetti and in the previous round against the qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam. She is yet to win without dropping a set in her last six matches. Potapova’s highest-ever WTA ranking is 42 but her good start to the year has seen her surpass this and is currently placed 39th in the live ranking. A win on Saturday will send her up to 33rd.
