Anastasia Potapova vs Aryna Sabalenka Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Stuttgart Open
by Daniel Ngulu in Tennis Predictions
This is top seed Aryna Sabalenka’s third throw of the dice to try and win the Porsche Grand Prix after two successive losses in the final but she will have to first get the better of unseeded Anastasia Potapova on Saturday in the semifinals. This match will be the first-ever meeting between the two and will be played on an indoor clay court with the winner advancing to play either defending champion and top seed Iga Swiatek or third seed Ons Jabeur. Potapova is making her debut in Stuttgart and has advanced to her second semifinal of the season. She won the first and ended up winning the title in Linz. The Russian number five is having a superb season and has won 18 of the 26 matches that she has played. She has been even more impressive in her season debut on clay where on her path to the semis, she has gotten the better of seeded players Cori Gauff and Caroline Garcia in the second round and quarterfinals respectively. The current world number 24 is the only unseeded player left in the tournament.
Aryna Sabalenka is targeting a third successive final in Stuttgart and this time around she will hope that she ends up winning it all. The Belarussian has lost in the final of the last two editions, first to now-retired Ashleigh Barty and the latest loss coming against Iga Swiatek who is on her end gunning for back-to-back titles. She will hope that her superb start to the year lifts her over Potapova and allows her to claim a 12-tour title. Sabalenka has won 22 of the 25 matches that she has contested this year and this form has seen her win two out of the three finals she has played. She started the year by winning in Adelaide and followed this up with the first Grand Slam title of her career when she beat Elena Rybakina in three sets to lift the Australian Open. The two would later rekindle their rivalry at Indian Wells but this time it is Rybakina who got the last laugh with a straight sets victory. The world number two has dropped one set in her two matches in Stuttgart which came in the quarterfinal showdown with Paula Badosa.
