Fifth seed Anastasia Potapova will face qualifier Ana Bogdan at the Cleveland quarter-finals on Thursday. The winner of this first career meeting between these two will play Arantxa Rus or McCartney Kessler for a place in the final. Read on for stats leading up to this match and our prediction. 

Anastasia Potapova is debuting in Cleveland and has been in fine form at the tournament. She has won both her matches in straight sets, continuing her strong form on hard courts. The Russian defeated Clara Tauson in the second round by the loss of just four games. 

That was her 11th win on hard courts, improving her season record to 22-18. Potapova is now up two places to 41st in the live ranking.

Ana Bogdan had lost five successive matches before she started her campaign here in the qualifying rounds. She has turned things around and is currently on a four-match winning streak. The Romanian, who has struggled for much of the year, will hope to keep this momentum. 

Bogdan shocked second seed Leylah Fernandez in the first round in three sets. In her next match, managed a straight sets victory over Greet Minnen whom she had defeated in qualifying. Though she has picked up her form this week, Bogdan is still on a losing record. 

Her 18 losses mark three more defeats than matches she has won. The 31-year-old has moved back to the WTA top 100 thanks to her form in Cleveland. She is now placed 90th in the live ranking.
