SIxth seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova doesn't have any seeded players between her and the Abu Dhabi quarter-finals. Round one sees her take on qualifier Sofia Kenin. Will the American upset the seeded player? Read our match prediction.

The winner of this match will next face either unseeded  Magda Linette or qualifier Renata Zarazua. Pavlyuchenkova is 26th in the live rankings and is playing in her thrd tournament of the year.

After a three-set loss to Marketa Vondrousova in Adelaide, the 33-year-old had an excellent run to the last eight in the Australian Open, going down in three sets to eventual runner-up Aryna Sabalenka.

Sofia Kenin has had two previous matches against her opponent and won them both. While both were on this surface (outdoor hard court), they were played seven years ago. Kenin is at 75th in the live rankings and had to make her way through the qualifying rounds in Abu Dhabi.

Her two matches were both won 7-6 4-2, including a victory over Veronika Kudermetova. So far this year, the 26-year-old has reached one quarter-final in Hobart. In the Australian Open, Kenin lost in round one to Coco Gauff.
