Second seed Jessica Pegula will next, at the Adelaide International tournament, play the qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. They will battle in the quarterfinals with the winner playing either Laura Siegemund, Daria Kasatkina, or Anna Kalinskaya in the semifinals. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is having a superb Adelaide campaign and has won all four matches she has contested here. After winning her first three matches without dropping a set, the Russian played her toughest match yet to book this round. She was forced to come from a set down by fellow qualifier Katerina Siniakova in the second round. The former world number 11, who has won 272 matches on hard courts in her career, is now up 13 places in the live ranking to number 46.

Jessica Pegula is in her Adelaide debut tournament and defeated compatriot Bernarda Pera in the second round to start things off. She won in three sets to secure her second win in three matches so far this season. As she has the head-to-head advantage over Pavlyuchenkova, the American will be confident of prolonging her stay here. Pegula defeated her Russian opponent in their only other previous encounter which was back in 2021 in Montreal. Last season, Pegula had her best campaign at tour level and contested five finals, the most she has ever played in a season. The world number five won two titles with both coming on hard courts.
