The first of the WTA Washington Open quarter-finals will see qualifier Amanda Anisimova play world number 49 Caroline Dolehide this Friday. Here’s a look at the stats defining this match and our prediction.

Amanda Anisimova is making her Washington debut and has won three of her four matches here in straight sets. The American defeated two-time DC finalist Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the last round. They went back and forth before Anisimova won a decider to claim her 12th win of the season and eighth on hard courts.

Before her showdown with Pavlyuchenkova, Anisimova had eliminated 2015 champion Sloane Stephens in straights. The 22-year-old, who defeated Dolehide in 2018 at Indian Wells in their only encounter to date, is now 131st in the live ranking.

Caroline Dolehide is coming off a big win, upsetting second seed Daria Kasatkina in three sets. The American needed a decider in both her matches in DC and against Kasatkina had to mount a comeback.

She had lost the first set 6-2 but, in the decider, claimed a dominant 6-0 victory. The win is a highlight of an unimpressive 2024 for the 25-year-old. Dolehide has compiled a 12-18 record and suffered most of her defeats, nine, on hard courts.

Advancing to the last eight in DC sees Dolehide equal her best result of the year which was achieved in Birmingham. If she progresses to her first semi-final of the year, the feat will bump her up to 45th place in the live ranking. Their second career meeting will produce a winner to face Emma Raducanu, Paula Badosa or Liudmila Samsonova next.
